• Using generic steps of the traditional linear scientific method found in slide 2 of the Exploring Scientific Methods presentation, students put the steps of the scientific method in a logical order. This can be done by students writing the steps on paper or by printing/cutting out each step, so students can physically sort the steps.
• Rationale: I created this science unit plan on matter for my ED351 - Science in the Elementary Curriculum course during spring 2011. The comprehensive learning segment - a more sophisticated term for unit plan, as I learned in this course - is designed for sixth grade students.

In 6th grade science this year we will be covering five super exciting units!! Unit 1- Preparing for Science (Scientific Method) Unit 2- Matter.

Sixth graders explore the scientific method. In this scientific method lesson, 6th graders write acrostic poems regarding the steps of the scientific method, experience an Alice program regarding the method, and create story boards that review each step of the method.
